Homemade protein bars
We all know protein is essential for building and repairing muscle…
… and it’s important to have some source of protein within an hour of working out. And trust me, there is no protein in scones!
So I started making these delicious protein bars for myself to have after my workouts, and soon lots of my mums were asking for the recipe or where could they buy them. Recently I brought them to class and tested them out on my personal guinea pigs! They went down a treat, and so my homemade healthy protein bars will be available to purchase after class every day.
If you want to make them yourself, here is the recipe, and nutritional info. Happy clean baking.
Ingredients – Makes 12 bars
5 overripe bananas
100g oats
2 tbsp peanut butter (from health food store only – no sugar or oil)
1 tbsp honey
2 scoops vanilla protein powder
2 egg whites
Dash of vanilla essence
Dash of cinnamon
Method
Preheat the oven to hottest setting
Lay oats out flat on a lasagne or baking tray and place in the oven
In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a potato masher
Add all other ingredients to the bowl
Take oats out of the oven and add to the bowl, and give it all a good mix
Pour the mixture into the tray, and put into the oven for about 25-30 minutes until top is becoming hard
Leave to cool, cut into 12 slices and enjoy
